In this exciting topic, Peace, Security, and Conflict, Year 1 children will explore important themes through the adventures of Paddington Bear. Our inquiry question, “What can we learn about Paddington Bear from his many adventures?” will guide our learning as we delve into Paddington's travels and experiences. The journey begins with a fun and engaging Stunning Start—a teddy bear’s picnic and making our own marmalade sandwiches, just like Paddington! As we continue our adventures, children will develop their phonics knowledge using Little Wandle, while also strengthening their understanding of numbers, number bonds, odd and even numbers, and concepts like doubling and halving. In art, we’ll focus on painting, drawing inspiration from our chosen artist for Eisteddfod and work based on Andy Wharhol. Through Paddington’s travels, the children will discover valuable lessons about peace, security, and conflict, making connections to their own world while deepening their learning in a creative and fun way.
